Vase made of glass blown iridescent LOETZ Blue ORIGIN Klostermühle PERIOD Late 19th century, Early twentieth century MARK LOETZ one of the most celebrated art glass factories in history, famous for its Art Nouveau-style glass, characterized by iridescent colors and organic shapes. Founded in the 19th century in what is now the Czech Republic, Loetz has left an indelible mark on the history of glass design. The history of Loetz began in 1836, when Johann Eisner bought a glassworks in Klostermühle (now Klášterský Mlýn, in the Czech Republic). In 1840, the company passed to Frank Gerstner, who in 1850 sold it to Johann Loetz's widow, Susanne Loetz, after whom it was named...
