About the Item

This exceptional pair of large decorative vases is a beautiful example of 19th-century French faience by Longchamp, a renowned ceramics manufacturer in Burgundy. Made of Terre de Fer (a refined white earthenware), the vases are dated 1876, as stamped on the underside, making them remarkable survivors from the early Belle Époque period. Each vase features a tall, elegant flared silhouette with a vibrant green enamel glaze and finely hand-painted gilded decoration. The design includes classical garlands, delicate floral motifs, and ribbon details in soft pinks, whites, and golds — evoking the charm and refinement of the late 19th century. The craftsmanship is meticulous, with enamel and gilding still remarkably well preserved. The interior is cream-glazed, while the base is impressed with the model number “1376 1/4” along with the date mark. These vases can be used as statement decorative pieces or to enhance floral arrangements in an elegant interior. A rare find, both decorative and historically significant, these vases will appeal to collectors of antique French ceramics and admirers of 19th-century decorative arts.
