Small vase decorated with blue drop pattern from Strehla Keramik, Germany.

About the Item
A really sweet, small vase, decorated with a blue drop pattern from Strehla Keramik, Germany, 1960s.
Strehla 1828-1989.
Originates from Stehla, in Saxony, Germany. After World War II the region became a part of East Germany GDR and the production became known as VEB, a state owned company. Here we find various companies such as Haldensleben. The ceramic output was at times more conservative compared with West German pottery, yet by 1960’s and 70s, they started to use the lava technique, which was added by hand on all of their vases and other ceramic art and various interior design pieces. The ceramics are often using an ink stamp as well as a GDR stamp on the base of each piece.

- 1970s Swedish Vase 647 from TilgmansBy Tilgmans KeramikLocated in Skarpnäck, SEA stunning, tall and slim vase with a rough ceramic finish, highlighted with beautiful orange, white and pale blue glazed details. Tilgman's ceramics was a ceramics and pottery workshop outside Gothenburg, Sweden operating around 1948–1975 under the leadership of its founder Paul Harald Tilgmann (1904–1974). Tilgman's ceramics are mainly known for ceramics that are decorated with so-called sgraffito technology. Tilgmann, like other members of the Tilgmann family in Helsinki, had artistic and design talents. He moved from Helsinki to Gothenburg in 1945. His artistic ambitions led him to become a ceramicist and started Tilgman's ceramics in Utbynäs outside Gothenburg in 1948. In the first years, the ceramics workshop mainly produced animal figures. In 1953, Marian Zawadzki (1912-1978) was employed, a Polish refugee who had knowledge of the graffiti technique. With this technology, the products that Tilgmans is mainly associated with, are still produced today. By the late 1960s and beginning of the 1970s, Tilgman's ceramics had become coarser and darker in appearance, yet also focus had shifted to produce more modern interior design objects, varying from art objects to a wide range of vases and other ceramic art objects. Tilgmans keramik is very distinct and is not always following the Swedish or Scandinavian design principles, rather one can say that each piece holds a unique quality both in form, function and glazing effects, rendering that their goods has a modern feeling, appreciated still for anyone who loves unique retro and vintage...Category
