20th Century Novelty Silver Plate Blue Glass Walrus Claret Jug Decanter Carafe
About the Item
A rare and highly collectible novelty decanter in the shape of a walrus with a delightful blue glass body.
The walrus mounts of this carafe are silver plated and realistically modelled to lend the piece a lovely character. He has excellent detailing to his head and face and is really rather charming.
The blue glass is particularly beautiful and unusual. It is hand-blown and has a purplish tone that glistens as it catches the light, which makes it rather special.
The piece was made in Italy in the 20th century. It is in lovely condition and is a real show-stopper: an impressive presence at any table, and a highly collectible piece.
