An Exceptionally Fine & Rare 18th C. Russian Silver-Gilt Beaker, Moscow 1784

About the Item

The richly embossed silver-gilt exterior surface exhibiting robust motifs of eagles perched upon leafy scrolls, flowerheads & foliate motifs, the interior exhibiting a fine gilt washed interior. The underside of the base bearing impressed Moscow assay mark, alderman & makers mark for Fyodor Petrov (working 1759-1784) & date stamp for 1784. Measuring 3.3/8” high x 2.7/5” dia. Weight, 94 grams. Examples of 18th century Russian silver are becoming very scarce in todays marketplace, especially items such as this exceptional example of Russian silver hollow-ware, demonstrating fine form, condition and original decoration, by a highly regarded & listed silversmith such as Fyodor Petrov.
