About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive 18th century, German silver gilt beaker made in Hanau; part of our continental silverware collection. This exceptional antique German beaker has a tapering cylindrical form. The surface of this antique silver beaker is embellished with large chased stemmed floral designs accented with scrolling foliate decoration. The upper and lower portions of the beaker are encompassed with bands of tooled decoration, in addition to an applied moulded border to the rim. The chased decoration is very sharp. German hallmarks struck to the underside of the cup are all clear.
