About the Item

A Large Vienna Style (Rosenthal) Hand-Painted Porcelain Urn Vase, Circa 1910s, Signed A- Knije (The significance of this artist's work is underscored by the auction result of a plaque by A. Knije, which realized USD 28,680 at Christie's in 2004, as shown in the final image for reference.) A masterpiece of early 20th-century porcelain art, this large and stunning vase is a one-of-a-kind find. Produced by the renowned Rosenthal manufactory in Selb-Bavaria around 1910s, this primitive antique urn vase features exceptional hand-painted decoration and 24k gold gilt accents, placing it firmly within the coveted Vienna Style tradition. The vase's substantial size and elegant form serve as a magnificent canvas for a finely painted motif of "Bei der Toilette" after famous Antoine Watteau (1684-1721), executed with remarkable skill and detail. The body is further enhanced by elaborate gold gilt decoration, creating a luxurious and dramatic visual impact. This piece is signed by the artist "A. Knije" adding to its rarity and collectible value. As a luxury home decor piece, this urn vase makes an exceptional centerpiece, commanding attention in any interior setting. Now over 100 years old, it carries the distinguished patina of age, making it a unique and fabulous gift for the most special occasions—including weddings, engagements, birthdays, and housewarming celebrations. Marks: Stamped Rosenthal, Selb-Bavaria. Artist-signed "A. Knije" to the right of the motif, inscription under "Watteau - Bei der Toilette". Condition: In very good antique condition. There are minor age-related traces and a gentle patina. As is common with gilt pieces of this era, there is some minor wear and partial loss to the gold trim, which does not detract from its overall beauty and grandeur. There are no cracks, chips, or restorations. Dimensions circa: --Height: 42 cm / 16.54 inches --Diameter: 19 cm / 7.48 inches
