About the Item

Between 1968 and 1970, the partnership between the Pierre Cardin brand and the creativity of Ambrogio Pozzi gave birth to two projects based on the concept of assemblage and stackability, which soon became icons of modern design: these were the Ensemble project, in glazed earthenware in various colors, and the later Set Cone. The latter consisted of thirteen ceramic pieces, which could be stacked on top of each other to form a cone with no protrusions or other elements that could interrupt the perfection of the geometric form. To prevent the creation of differences in coloring or size, the pieces of each set were produced during the same day, using the same raw materials and firing simultaneously. The set for two people, consisting of flat and soup plates, trays, bowls and a salt shaker placed at the top of the composition, was thus part of the series of projects oriented toward the study of forms that could allow them to be stored by taking advantage of the precision of the joints, playing on surprise effects, but without sacrificing the practicality and functionality of an industrial product.
