About the Item

Charming and very modern, this Art Deco teapot depicting a Cupid figure with his bow drawn, ready to strike his victim, was designed by Dante Baldelli for the famed Rometti ceramic works in Umbertide, Italy, not long after it was founded in 1927. Here the artist uses a limited but effective palette of deep rose or pink, white and black. Rometti was one of the first ceramic companies in Italy -- along with Richard Genori, near Florence -- to bring fresh, modern design to its production, and this piece is a superb example. The bottom is marked with the Rometti firm's monogram, and with an original paper label.
