George Jones Majolica 'Tower Stilton' Dish Cheese Keeper and stand, the relief molded cover and base formed as a fortified castle tower (keep), with mossy stones and arrow slits realistically rendered, with trailing green-glazed ivy and ferns, with a castellated parapet top, the knop handle molded as a yellow-glazed flagpole with a turquoise pennon, the interiors glazed in turquoise. Impressed marks to reverse: British Registry Mark for 19 February 1876, with painted pattern number to the thumbprint reserve, '3341' which corresponds to the entry, 'Tower Stilton' in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Numbers Books preserved in the Wedgwood Archives and partially printed in Bergeson.
