Large Antique Majolica Covered Cheese Server or Dome with Leaf & Berry Decor

About the Item

This antique cheese server or dome is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from the United States and dates to approximately 1880 and done in the period Victorian style. This large cheese dome is composed of majolica with a deep green and brown slip glaze with a vibrant pink interior glaze to the underside of the dome. The outside of the dome is decorated with raised leaves and berries.

  • Condition:
    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Some crazing noted to the underside of the dome, and some glaze wear to the edges of the base and one chip noted on the top of the underplate as presented in the photos, and consistent with age and use.
