Nanking Blue and White Porcelain Vintage 23 Piece Tea and Meal Service
About the Item
Dessert will appear extra delicious on this set of Nanking blue and white porcelain Chinese export assembled set with teapot and cups circa 1940. There is a wonderful mix of pieces for presentation: a raised circular pedestal plate ( 9 inches wide), a set of 8 cups and 8 saucers ( cups 2 inches tall by 4 inches wide ), a teapot with a newer lid ( 8.5 by 7 inches wide), two large plates ( 9 inches wide) and two medium plates (8 inches wide). All pieces are vintage and in very nice condition without chips or other condition issues.
Large quantities of blue and white porcelain were shipped to Europe from the Port of Nanking to Western countries in the 19th Century. Traditional Chinese shapes and motifs were prominent in the designs, even though they were for export to Europe. Potters in England and elsewhere in Europe imitated and copied the details and designs.
