Model 404 was created 1919. WW - Wiener Werkstätte / Vienna Workshop: The 'Wiener Werkstätte GmbH' was a production association of visual artists. Founding members in 1903 were Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser and the industrialist Fritz Waerndorfer, who made a name for himself as an art patron. On September 2, 1905, WW signed Carl Otto Czeschka as another designer. The role model was the British 'Arts and Crafts Movement'. The aim of the workshop was to renew the concept of art in the field of arts and crafts. Here she worked with the Vienna Secession and the Vienna School of Applied Arts. Everyday objects as well as jewelry and furniture were produced.Ceramics were an integral part of the product range of WW, which were originally produced outside in cooperation or taken over on commission. With the establishment of the in-house artist workshops in 1917, a renewal took place: The colorful expressiveness and free artistic expression of the ceramics created there differed significantly from the purism of the previous production.
