Ceramic Dessert Set, Saint-Clement, France c. 1950
About the Item
Saint Clement is one of the oldest French royal earthenware factories.
Supplying the court , the factory is at the origin of the scalloped edge of its pieces, known as the "Louis XV Style".
Innovative in both its technique and its decorations, the factory has crossed the major aesthetic trends of the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century by associating numerous artists like Emile Gallé.
The post-war period remained strongly influenced by the stripping down of lines , characteristic of Art Deco productions notably under the influence of Geo Condé or Blanche Letalle while developing new types of enameling, in particular satin glazes, of which this set is an example.
Vibrant colours, energetic decor in light sgraffito the pieces are in perfect condition, and in its original packaging.
