About the Item
A stunning and large Quezal vase made in the USA c1915 (at this time they did not sign-but this is a well known Quezal shape and pattern), The vase is beautifully iridised orange and covered in thin blue green trails; a design commonly known as 'King Tut' and a very difficult technique to perfect The tall vase is a fabulous shape circular with a low waist and a bulbus top turning in at the top.
Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company was founded in 1901, in Brooklyn, New York, by Martin Bach and Thomas Johnson. They used to work for Tiffany but decided to start their own company. They also hired two other former Tiffany employees, Percy Britton and William Wiedebine. The company was named for the quezal, a bird with brilliantly coloured feathers.
