About the Item

A fine English early Victorian clear glass smoke bell probably dating from circa 1850. Used to capture the smoke from oil lamps the bell would be hung suspended from the ceiling above the oil lamp preventing the smoke for dispersing and causing staining. The blown clear glass bell is of typical bell shape with a wide rim with folded edge and with a hanging loop attached to the top. Offered in good condition with wear consistent with age and use.
