Fritz Heckert Pomegranate Enamelled 2 handled glass vase design by Max Rade 1900

About the Item

Stunning and rare, two tall handled Fritz Heckert enamelled Vase in iridised green with polychrome enamelling depicting pomegranates on leafy branches over a stylised sea like freeze in yellow and deep blue. Fully signed in enamel on the base FH for Fritz Heckert and MR for the designed Max Rade. The vase is hand blown and hand tooled making it a little irregular. Fritz Heckert was possibly the greatest of the turn of the last century German glass makers -They had a number of fine designers such as Maxe Rade and Otto Thamm, the later took over the company from his father-in-law c 1900 and quickly transformed the business -alas he died too soon and the company was later taken over by Josephinenhutte
