A fine, figural French toby pitcher. By Frie Onnaing. In polychrome decorated majolica. In the form of a drunken soldier sitting astride a wine barrel inscribed with an anti-establishment slogan “Vive La Reduction des Periodes” for ""Live Long the Reduction of the Government"". Simply a wonderful Onnaing pitcher! Date: Late 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is an old professional repair to the spout with oxidized overpaint. There is a glaze skip or spot of loss to the base, some fine & light crazing throughout, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
