English Staffordshire Treacle Glazed Wellington Commemorative Jug Dated 1852
About the Item
A fine English Staffordshire treacle glazed pottery jug commemorating the death of Wellington on September 14, 1852. The jug is modelled as a bust of Wellington in military uniform with his tricorn hat forming the pouring spout. The bust sits on a raised base with the inscription WELLINGTON DIED SEP 14 1852. The jug has a molded looped twig handle and is decorated in rich brown treacle glazes. The jug is not marked.
In good condition with a small glaze chip to the lower edge.
