Late 19th Century French Saint Clement Painted Ceramic Barbotine Monkey Pitcher
Located in Dallas, TX
This colorful Majolica water pitcher was sculpted in Saint Clement, France, circa 1890. The ceramic jug is in the shape of a colorful monkey wearing a jacket, with spout thru his mouth. The pitcher is hand painted in the white and grey palette and is stamped on the bottom 435 (Saint Clement, Keller & Guerin, France). The pitcher is in excellent condition with rich patinated colors. Pictured in the book "Pichets en Barbotine" by Maryse Bottero page 45. See last picture.
Saint Clement pottery was established by Jacques Chambrette in St. Clément in 1758 producing traditional French faience. The factory was a branch of Chambrette’s Luneville pottery, but was managed by his son-in-law Charles Loyal, Paul Louis Cyfflé, and architect Richard Mique. By the beginning of the 19th century, both concerns had been acquired by Keller and Guérin. St. Clément began producing Majolica during the 1860s and continued for some forty years.
St. Clément Majolica is characterized by subtle shadings of colors. Majolica pieces include a series of figural jugs including a rooster, chimpanzee, and an absinthe pitcher...

Two silver pitchers set. Benito Gómez, Antonio. Segovia, Spain, 1831-1835.
Located in Madrid, ES
Pair of pitcher jugs. Silver. BENITO GOMEZ, Antonio (1775-1835). Segovia, Spain, 1801-1835.
With contrast markings.
Pair of spouted jugs with a circular base with moldings, a low conical foot and a tubular body finished in a hemisphere at the bottom and with a flat molding at the top; the handle, in double ce, presents a simple scroll or branch that rests towards the mouth of the piece; the beak shows a simple decoration. Typologically, this pair is linked to a type of spouted jug that, with variations, is common in Hispanic domestic silverware from the first half of the 17th century to the beginning of the 18th century, also found after this date. As usual, the civil model was quickly assimilated by religious silverware, especially for its use in liturgical cruets. Antonio Benito Gómez (1775-1835) was a silversmith who worked in Segovia from at least 1801 until he died, and was also a silver marker carved between 1824 and 1828, and between 1831 and 1835. Son of the silversmith Juan de la Cruz Benito , several works by his hand have been preserved: baptismal shell...

Art Nouveau German Tankard Floral Motif Pewter Kayserzinn , Initials , Marks
Located in Valladolid, ES
One of a kind Art Nouveau German floral motif tankard, with engraved initials and floral patterns characteristic of Art Nouveau. Very fine work, circa 1895.. It comes from a Private French collection. A great collectors piece.
The objets Kayserzinn in Pewter are numbered from the fake number " 4000" and with the mark Kayserzinn between 1894-1895
The German Company JP.Kaiser et Sohn AG- kayserzinn had a great success at the world exhibitions in Paris 1900 , Turin 1902 y St Louis 1904
This piece was a private commission at the beginning of the century, as the engraved initials can be seen.
Amazing and beautiful beer mug, called Tankard, made in epeltre by the German metallurgy company Kayserzinn. This piece was a private commission at the beginning of the century, as the engraved initials can be seen. The entire surface is finely decorated with floral motifs, seed beads and harriots. In addition, the mouth of the jug simulates the beak of a duck, something that denotes the love for organic forms in Art Nouveau.
At the bottom of the piece you can see the "KAYSERZINN" brand, a German metallurgy company founded in 1862, very prominent and prestigious in the context of the time. The brand items are numbered from the (fictitious) number 4000 onwards, marked with the word Kayserzinn next to it; just as seen on this tankard. The decorations that the brand developed were inspired by French floral Art Nouvau...
