About the Item

Vintage French ceramic jug by Le Mûrier (circa 1960s). A delightful ceramic piece with curved handle and a spout with lip. A creamy white lustrous glaze with brown patches form the base of the piece complemented by a red stylised bird and vegetation. Very original rustic piece in a truly Provençal style with Mid-Century charm throughout. The piece is in good overall condition. Please note the presence of a tiny manufacturing flaw in the glaze at the bird's head. The maker's mark appears on the underside of the ceramic. Enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video may be provided. About the Artist: Gustave Reynaud (1915-1972) founded the pottery, Le Mûrier (Mulberry Tree), in Vallauris, France in 1955. He produced earthenware designed in conjunction with his well known brother-in-law, Jean Derval, as well as vases, wall plaques and anthropomorphic jugs. He also worked with the potter, J-F Descombes, and decorator Michel Barbier in their well known village in the French Riviera. After Reynaud's death in 1972 his wife ran the pottery until 1984. Dimensions: H 23 cm / 9.1" W 11 cm / 4.3" D 9.5 cm / 3.7".
