Antique English Copeland 'Spode' Hand Ptd. Porcelain Imari Decor Large Platter

About the Item

Extraordinary palatial size antique English Copeland Spode hand painted porcelain extremely large Platter. (Please note this is not ironstone, but rather very fine porcelain!) It is made by the Royal Warranted China makers Copeland Spode (the Spode factory dates back to the last half of the 18th century). The decoration is in the "Imari" palette and completely hand painted in very rich jewel tones of Chinese Red, Cobalt Blue (very dark blue, not black) and a tremendous amount of gilding (none of which is rubbed). This platter is pristine, with absolutely no cracks, chips, hairlines or any such flaws. And it is clearly marked on the rear (as illustrated) with the printed mark for Copeland Spode (double Cs back to back). It appears that this platter was either rare or never used. A fabulous find!
