About the Item
From a series of figures representing The Four Seasons, Autumn is shown as a young man squeezing grapes into a cup, symbolic of harvest time, and recalling classical representations of Bacchus. Although the ancient Romans rarely showed him in a hat.
Issued in both white an coloured, this example has been enamelled using the colours typical of Bow porcelain of the period, including the very attractive translucent yellow.
