About the Item

Chinese porcelain plate, Canton. “Mandarin” decoration, polychrome and gilded, with flowers and reserves depicting flowers and Chinese figures in scenes of everyday life, Tao-Kuang period (1821-1850). The decoration is composed of traditional Chinese scenes and everyday life, where figures in traditional costumes can be seen in a palatial setting surrounded by delicate floral and plant elements. In the center of the plate, a circular medallion displays a stylized floral motif, creating a harmonious point. The wavy contours and meticulously hand-painted details reflect the skill and refinement of the craftsmen of the time. The edges are framed by an intricate pattern, complementing the overall composition. This piece, represents an important example of China's cultural and commercial exchange with the West, where Guangzhou porcelains were widely appreciated and collected. Enamel wear and edge flaws.

The Pavilion, with its blend of Indian, Chinese, and Gothic elements, became a symbol of the Prince’s extravagant taste. The interiors featured Chinese wallpaper, Indian textiles, and oriental furniture, reflecting the era’s growing interest in Chinoiserie and other oriental-inspired designs.
