About the Item
A tea-bowl and saucer from Chelsea's Gold Anchor period. Richly decorated in purple, pink and green then lavishly gilded, the gilding being chased as well. It is possible the decoration is the work of the Giles Workshop in London.
Chelsea porcelain is highly collectible and has a reputation for being of exceptional quality. It is often considered to be among the finest examples of English porcelain from the 18th and 19th centuries.
A good, early example of the work of perhaps the best-known of the early English porcelain factories.
