About the Item
Antique French Confit Pot in a Beautiful blend of both green and mustard glazes. The French Confit Pots date back to the 1800's and were used in the French country side farmhouse kitchens to preserve their meats; in particular the duck and goose, while their own fat would rise to the surface and harden—a method known as confit or in English; preserve. Originating in the French Provence region, these pots are easily recognized by their mustard yellow glazes and occasionally a green glaze as well, both signatures of French Provençal.
