About the Item

A perfect example of mid-century modern German art pottery. This fat lava vase was made by the west German producer Ilkra Edel Keramik in the late 1950s/early 1960s . Their very distinctive items are designed with extraordinary care which makes them very sought after today. This particular pitcher/vase, model number 2005/30 (see embossed marking on the base), has a very recognizable shape typical of the 1960s. It is decorated in a rare, graphic, relief motif in shiny, light gray glaze on a shiny, white base. The inside of the rim has a crackled effect in black and white. Vintage but surprisingly modern at the same time. This vase will look great both in a mid-century and a contemporary interior. In very good vintage condition. No cracks, no chips. Minor signs of wear consistent with age (see photos). Dimension: height 31 cm/ 12", width 20 cm/ 8", diameter base 10 cm/ 4", diameter top 6 cm/ 2 1/2". Weight: 1332 g/ 2.94 lbs
