Monumental Smithsonian Artist Early Elena Karina (Canavier) Vessel

About the Item

A monumental vessel by Elena Karina. Karina held the positions of Craft coordinator (1974-1978) at the National Endowment for The Arts, and special assistant for the arts to the office of the vice president, the white house (1978-80). This piece was acquired directly from the estate. Karina's work can be seen in private and public collections throughout the US, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Oakland Museum, and the permanent collection of the Smithsonian, Washington, DC. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT A SET OF 2 PIECES, THIS IS ONE SINGULAR VASE. This piece also comes with a signed booklet from Karina "The Sense of the Sea," which features many images of Karina's incredible work. Please note: The vessel has not been broken or repaired, after careful examination, it's clear that Karina assembled this vessel by creating two separate pieces and molding them together, then glazing and finishing. The vessel stands an incredible 22" Tall and 22" x 22" at the wisest points of the sculpture. At the rim of the piece, the diameter is 12.".

Located in Culver City, CA
This mirror is simply stunning! Designed by Greg Palombo, woodworker and custom craftsman out of Hurricane, UT this large modern mirror breaths a breath of fresh sunshine into any environment. Inspired by the designs of Memphis Milano, Ettore Sottsass and his Ultrafragola mirror, this Post-modern / modern style mirror features large bands of color pops that almost melt into the floor. Perfect as a full body mirror, this piece can be used as a floor mirror or can be mounted / cleated to the wall. This mirror is the ultimate selfie mirror and would be prefect used as an accent piece in a maximalist home, or a home that needs a splash of color. This piece would also be incredible used in a retail environment as a display piece. This piece could be used in so many environments, and would easily flex into any Mid-Century Modern, modern or contemporary home. This would also look great in a children's room, nursery, or anywhere that needs a splash of fun color. We currently have this piece in the gallery with a Vladimir Kagan accent chair, and a Peter Shire Bel Air...

Monumental Adrian Pearsall Brutalist Wall Mounted Disc Dry Bar, 1970's
By Craft Associates, Adrian Pearsall
Located in Culver City, CA
Available right now we have this increasingly rare, mid century modern, brutalist disc bar by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates. This brutalist wall mounted disc cabinet is definitely a conversation piece-- stretching a whopping 48" in diameter, this disc dar opens to reveal a mirrored back as well as 2 shelf inserts. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and this entire brutalist line of furniture appears to have (pretty obviously) been inspired by American craft movement designer Paul Evans, who designed nearly identical pieces which were available through Directional Furniture to the trade in the 1960's and 1970's. While this piece doesn't have the pedigree of an original Paul Evans piece, what is does have is an abundance of over-the-top maximalist style with a much more palatable price tag. Without being mounted to the wall, this piece was a little tougher than an average piece to photograph, but for scale purposes we photographed it resting on the floor alongside a Fabricius and Kastholm grasshopper...
