Dutch Blue crystal mustard pot with silver mount by Jan can der Cop, 1833 A silver mustard pot with a blue crystal pot and a silver gilt spoon. A silver mount of a flat plate engraved Empire style leaf motif on a square base raised on 4 balls. The mustard jar has a large curved handle and the lid has an acorn on top. Made by the Dutch silversmith Jan van der Cop, Deventer, worked during 1830-1848. The mustard pot is Hall marked Dutch silver with the hallmarks Lion 2 (833/1000) and master sign, The Year letter Y of 1833, Minerva head and sword (used since 1814). The spoon is silver gilded and also marked with the Dutch silver hallmarks and dated 1841 Measures 15 cm high, 10 cm wide and the depth is 6.5 cm. The spoon is 10 cm long. The weight is in total 235 grams.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English Britannia standard silver mustard pot; part of our Britannia silverware collection. This exceptional antique George V Britannia standard* silver mustard pot has a rounded octagonal panelled form to a pedestal spreading foot. The incurved panelled surface of this silver mustard pot is plain and unembellished, with an applied border to the upper rim. This fine Britannia silver mustard pot retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted with a tiered circular urn style thumbpiece. The pedestal foot of the mustard pot has a plain stepped form to a collet style rim. This impressive example of antique silverware is supplied with an associated hallmarked sterling silver spoon crafted by William Eley I & William Fearn in 1816. This exceptional mustard pot is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire. * Britannia Silver - The Britannia silver standard of 958 (95.84% of fine silver), denoted by the icon of the seated Britannia holding an oval shield, was introduced by William III in 1697. This was to indicate the slightly higher standard of silver from sterling silver standard of 925 (92.5% of fine silver).
