About the Item

Superb bouillabaisse set in faience by Proceram, Aubagne, consisting of fifteen pieces, circa 1960 and hand-painted. This refined ensemble exemplifies the excellence of Aubagne’s craftsmanship and the heritage of the Proceram manufactory, founded in 1908 under the name Société des Faïenceries d’Aubagne. The set includes twelve deep plates and a tureen with its strainer. Each plate features a unique design of fish, crustaceans, and shells, painted in vibrant tones on a delicately glazed ivory background. The tureen, particularly striking, rests on four feet shaped as fish heads and has handles in the form of shells, while the lid is adorned with a finely crafted rascasse handle. The ensemble stands out for the freshness of its colors and the finesse of its decoration. An elegant and rare piece, a testament to the great refinement of Proceram’s productions. Marked with the manufactory’s stamp and inscribed “Rascasse” on the underside.
