Vintage Silver Plated Cruet Set with Cut and Beveled Crystal Glass Bottles, 50s
About the Item
I am offering for sale a Cruet Set in silver plated and glass with an ancient charm but dating back to the mid-twentieth century.
The cut and beveled geometric decoration on the glass dispensers and the label of the jewelery shop located in Rome that sold it, still in business, allows us to date it between the 40s and 50s.
This condiment set consists of a paired group of containers with silver plated racks including containers for pepper, salt or mustard and 2 cruets with stops for oil, vinegar and more.
This vintage ménage is not only functional but also highly decorative, I love the cap of the pepper pot, the holes for the pepper are in the shape of stars instead of the classic and normal holes
The cruets are all, albeit minimally, different from each other, even the faceted glass stoppers, as they are handcrafted from cut and embellished glass.
All the glass dispenser are intact.
The cruets are contained in a chiselled and perforated silver-plated metal basket which features a decorated fretwork balustrade.
The basket shows slight signs of use and age, it shows parts where the silver coating is slightly worn and allows a glimpse of the golden metal underneath.

This is a gorgeous antique silver plated cruet set bearing the makers mark of the renowned silversmith Wade, Wingfield Wilkins & Co and circa 1860 in date.
The set comprises a beautifully decorative silver plated cruet stand holding six exquisite cut glass condiment bottles traditionally for chilli, soy, cayenne, vinegar, oil and ketchup.
The antique silver cruet features a central rectangular shaped handle and body on bun feet, the six cut glass cruet bottles feature three with glass stoppers and three with silver plated lids.
This is truly a special item and will attract the maximum amount of attention, the quality and craftsmanship are undeniable.
Condition:
In excellent condition with no dings, dents or signs of repair. Please see photos for confirmation.
