A fine and impressive antique George II English sterling silver waiter; an addition to our Georgian dining collection.
This fine antique George II English sterling silver waiter has a plain circular shaped form onto three stepped hoof style feet.
The surface of fine example of Georgian silverware is plain and unembellished.
This swept Chippendale style shaped border is ornamented with applied moulded decoration to the rim.
This exceptional example of antique silverware features no maker's mark; the maker is therefore unknown.
Condition
This antique sterling silver waiter is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition.
There are some natural fire marks to the surface of the waiter, in keeping with age.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the waiter are very clear.
Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware.

A very good large silver swing handle basket of pierced oval form. The arched swing handle with two cast female busts arising from a leaf capped double C-scroll support. The cast and applied rim of shaped foliate and floral entwined decoration. The central bowl of the basket engraved with a rocaille cartouche containing an armorial. The top of the handle is decorated with a leaf form cartouche within which is the crest of a deer. The sides of the raised basket with hand cut pierced decoration. The whole standing on four cast and applied legs, decorated with a beautiful scrolling foliate design rising to high relief female faces, on leaf-form pad feet.
Hallmarked to the underside for London 1747 by Edward Aldridge. The underside of the handle bears the lion passant and maker’s mark, both struck twice.
