An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian Newcastle sterling silver sugar sifter spoon - boxed; an addition to our silver cutlery and flatware collections. This fine antique Victorian Newcastle sterling silver sugar sifter has a pierced decorated handle bearing a trefoil design to the terminal. The anterior surface of the spoon handle is embellished with engraved interlacing decoration accented with simplified organic motifs. The reverse of each antique silver sugar sifter handle bears the contemporary engraved initials 'R.W.', in addition to the full Newcastle hallmarks. The shell shaped bowl features a plain rounded heel to the reverse and retains the original gilding. The bowl of the sifter is embellished with pierced trefoil-shaped motifs, incorporating further pierced pale decoration to the lower portions. This exceptional Victorian sugar sifter is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, and secures with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Reid & Sons, Goldsmiths to the Queen, Newcastle Upon Tyne'. This exceptional antique silver sugar sifter was crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith Christian John Reid of Reid & Sons. Such original Newcastle silver boxed flatware examples in this exceptional condition are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition This antique sterling silver sifter spoon is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp and the original gilding is in excellent condition; this determines the piece has seen little to no use. The hallmarks struck to the reverse of the handle is very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional example of Victorian silverware. The lower portion of the bowl is embellished with concave fluted decoration, to a pierced decorated conjoined bracket style foot, reflecting the design of the border. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt teaware set consists of a sugar bowl and sifter spoon. The bowl has a circular rounded form to a circular spreading foot. The surface of the bowl is embellished with exceptional chased floral ornamentation accented with scroll designs, all on a matte background. The decoration to the bowl incorporates a putto* design to one side and a scrolling leaf bordered cartouche to the other, displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a unicorn before trees. The upper portion of this exceptional bowl is encircled with a broad plain border and the rim of the foot is encompassed with an applied decorated border. The exceptional sugar sifter ladle is embellished with further putto and scrolling leaf ornamentation, reflecting the design to that of the bowl. 1926 Scottish Sterling Silver Caddy Spoon

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V Scottish sterling silver caddy spoon; an addition to our teaware collection. This exceptional antique George V Scottish sterling silver caddy spoon has a plain shovel shaped bowl. The handle terminal is embellished with a cast features depicting Celtic knots and interlacing designs, paralleling a mystical interlaced creature. The handle stem is further ornamented with a raised paralleling border, incorporating scrolling designs to either end. This impressive antique 1920s silver caddy spoon was crafted by the distinguished and collectable silversmith Alexander Ritchie of Iona, Scotland; the piece includes full Glaswegian hallmarks, in addition to identifying 'AR', 'Iona' and registration number RD NO 643267. Alexander was in the Merchant Navy and returned home once injured in a ship wreck. He returned home to help the family run hospitality business and married Euphemia Thomson; a prior student of the Glasgow School of Art. The couple expanded their love of art and Alex expanded his skill set from wood carving to metal work. Everything was made to the Ritchies' specifications and to a high standard. In 1937, Alex Ritchie's work was included in a prestigious Scottish Industries Exhibition on London. Condition This antique Scottish sterling silver caddy spoon is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the stem and reverse of the handle are all very clear. An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver Diamond Jubilee commemorative spoon - boxed; an addition to our range of collectible silverware. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver spoon celebrating Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee has a plain oval form. The anterior surface of the handle is embellished with a variety of commemorative subtly gilded scenes separated by scrolling ribbon ornamentation accented with the scene depicting wording 'Peace', 'Commerce', 'Electricity', 'Rifle Volunteers', 'Steam' and 'Penny Postage'. The reverse surface is ornamented with the insignia of the Star of India including the motto 'Heavens Light Our Guard' above a further scrolling ribbon design incorporating the wording 'Indian Empire', 'Canada', 'Australasia' and 'Cape Colony' amidst undulating laurel branches. The lower portion of the reverse of the handle includes part hallmarks beside the inscription 'In commemoration of the 60th year of the most glorious reign of H.I.M. Victoria Empress & Queen - 1837-1897 -'. The shaped terminal of the handle is ornamented in the form of the Imperial State Crown to both the anterior surface and reverse. The anterior surface of the bowl of this Diamond Jubilee commemorative spoon incorporates an impressive gilded scene depicting prestigious figures raising their crowns and surrounding the throne mounted Queen Victoria. The reverse of the bowl is plain and unembellished, apart from the full hallmarks and registration number '288518' and features a leaf decorated heel.
