A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver jug with royal interest; part of our antique silver jugs and dining collections.
This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver covered beer jug has a circular shaped form.
The undulating body of this silver jug is embellished with impressive continuous village scene of figures at various pursuits, with spiralling fruiting vines to the background; this ornamentation was influenced by Flemish/Dutch genre artwork, such as pieces crafted in the late 17th century by David Teniers II.
The underside of the lip is further embellished with a cast model of a youth; it can be determined this figure is poised to catch the last drop from the spout.
The jug is fitted with an exceptional hinged hallmarked cover ornamented with further fruiting vine decoration, in addition to two cast figurines to the posterior portion.
The cover is surmounted with an impressive cast bud style finial.
The interior of the cover is embellished with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Henry Peverill Le Mesurier. From Their Royal Highnesses The Princes Philip and Augustus of Saxe Coburg Gotha, as a Friendly Souvenir of their Sport with him in India, 1873'.
This antique silver jug is fitted with an impressive cast silver vine decorated handle, with a bifurcating lower terminal.
The underside of the jug bears an applied registration plaque bearing 'Elkington, 1325'.

This magnificent antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug has an elongated pear-shaped form onto a circular pedestal foot.
The cylindrical neck of the silver claret jug is embellished with exceptional cast and chased floral and scrolling foliate decoration, all on a matte background.
The underside of the pouring lip bears an exceptional shield shaped cartouche displaying a dove with wings extended holding in the claw a branch; all surmounted with a scrolling leaf mantling.
The knopped neck is further ornamented with a volute scrolling border flanked with plain bands, to a swept portion encircled with pensile bud designs.
The decoration to the body incorporates two large scrolling leaf bordered vacant cartouches, each surmounted with a coronet design embellished with floral ornamentation.
Each cartouche is further embellished with a chased figural mask design to the nadir, flanked with large floral motifs.
Either side of each cartouche is embellished with an exceptional cast and applied three-dimensional winged mermaid and mermen, gesturing towards the aforementioned coronet.
The decoration to the body is further embellished with large scrolling leaf and floral sprays incorporating a cast and applied protruding leopard's head to the anterior portion.
This magnificent London silver claret jug retains the original hinged cover, ornamented with chased scrolling leaf decoration and surmounted with an impressive cast and applied opposing scrolling loop finial.
This exceptional antique Victorian silver jug is fitted with a cast sterling silver scrolling handle embellished with further foliate decoration to the handpiece.
The handle incorporates a lever function to the interior of the handpiece; once depressed this opens/elevates the cover.
The domed circular pedestal foot is embellished with alternating chased arch decoration incorporating further floral and foliate designs on a matte background.

This exceptional antique Italian sterling silver jug has an oval paneled, flared form onto a circular domed foot.
The surface of this antique jug is plain and unembellished, with a matte, subtly planished finish in keeping with the patination of a piece from this period.
This impressive piece is fitted with an exceptional cast sterling silver scrolling handle, accented with a leaf design emanating from the thumbpiece, this leaf ornamentation comprises the upper terminal.
The circular foot is encircled with a band of embossed bead decoration.

This exceptional antique sterling silver coffee jug, in sterling standard, has a baluster form.
The body of this Victorian coffee jug is embellished with an impressive broad band of bright cut ornamentation depicting connected Grecian figures intertwined with long flowing fabric, all on a matte background.
This narrative scene is flanked with an impressive interlacing leaf decorated border to the lower portion and a scrolling Akroter decorated band to the upper portion, in addition to plain moulded borders to the rims.
This impressive antique coffee jug is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover encircled with a bright cut engraved undulating band; the flush indicates the high quality of the piece.
The cover is surmounted by the original sterling silver finial in the formation of a flower comprised of scrolling leaf designs and textures.
