About the Item

Representative elegant silver jardinière in an elliptical basic shape, standing on four scrolled feet with laurel branch connection, the lower end tiered, the wall with regular vertical openings, divided into segments by four pilasters above the feet, the upper, curved rim edged by a surrounding cross band, with oval panels on the front and back, crowned with ribbons around torch and quiver crossed over, framed by feather-leaf festoons with blossoms in relief extending over the fretwork, with raised volutes with acanthus leaf covering on the sides forming handles. One panel monogrammed, remains of gilding on the inside. Original matching glass insert, curved at the top edge to match the silver vessel, with a large cut star at the bottom.
