Art Nouveau Silver Jardinière, Bruckmann & Sons for Lazarus Posen Germany c 1900

About the Item

Elegant, festive silver vessel in wide oval base form with four projecting volute feet, on the front and back center asymmetrical panels holding together the surrounding leaf, flower and ribbon braid like clasps, slightly curved top edge, on the narrow sides bands pulled out of the braid in the form of raised handles. Fitted flared glass insert with curved top edge, incised arch and fan decoration, cut flowers in between, large cut bottom star. Dimensions: height: 13,5 cm / 5.31 in width: 48,0 cm / 18.89 in depth: 30,0 cm / 11.81 in silver weight: 740 grams / 23.79 troy oz Hallmarks: - Crescent + Crown - German official hallmark from 1888 - 800 - fineness - Eagle mark - Master's sign BRUCKMANN & SONS - Silver goods factory, Heilbronn, established 1805, Peter Bruckmann (1865-1937) was the first chairman of the 'Deutscher Werkbund', founded in 1907. The Bruckmann company produced numerous precious silver objects designed by well-known designers.
