Huge Antique Sterling Silver Salver or Footed Tray with Ornate Floral Engraving
About the Item
This enormous and very substantial antique salver or footed tray was made by Hunt, Roskell, Tate, Storr and Mortimer of England and dates to 1865 and done in the period Victorian style. This significant antique salver is composed of solid sterling silver and weighs approximately six and a half kilograms and has a decorated surround in stylized leaves and vines. The top surface of the tray has a centralized monogram done in stylized vines with a thick border of ornately engraved flowers and the tray stands approximately three inches high on four sturdy feet. The tray is clearly signed on the bottom with an impressed maker's mark and hallmarked with the lion passant and date stamp for 1865.
