Direct from Paris, A Stunning 328 piece, Louis XVI French 950 Sterling Silver Flatware Set (Service for 24) by Henri Lapparra, "Silversmith to the French Elite", Includes a Magnificent 5-Drawer Wooden Storage Cabinet and 29 Serving Pieces, No Monograms, circa 1920s. The rich history of French silversmithing boasts many illustrious names, but few have left as indelible a mark as the renowned Lapparra family. For over a thousand years, this lineage of skilled artisans has crafted exquisite silverware that transcends mere utility, evolving into a symbol of luxury, artistry, and French cultural heritage. The story of the Lapparra family's silversmithing prowess begins in the early 10th century. By the 12th century, the Lapparra name had become synonymous with craftsmanship, and their workshops produced intricate chalices, candlesticks, and reliquaries for churches across France.
The 19th century witnessed the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and the consolidation of his empire. The Lapparra silversmiths adapted to the imperial tastes, crafting magnificent pieces that showcased the grandeur of the First French Empire, like this amazing 328-piece flatware set. In addition, elaborate tea and coffee sets, dinnerware, and ornate presentation pieces were created for the imperial court, earning the family the coveted title of "Imperial Silversmiths." This set is in extremely good condition with a magnificent wood storage cabinet and an amazing assortment of 29 serving pieces. Each of the main flatware pieces bear the hallmark of the French Government's "Head of the Minerva - 1" Hallmark, certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver in addition to the Henri Lapparra manufacturer's sterling silver hallmark. Each of the vermeil dessert knives bears a Danish sterling silver hallmark and the manufacturer's hallmark (AR) engraved on the blades. The two salt cellars are by Odiot and also bears the French Government's Head of the Minerva 1 hallmark in addition to the Odiot sterling silver manufacturer's hallmark. The Stunning Wooden 5-Drawer Storage Cabinet Measures roughly 81 cm. in Height, 74 cm. Wide and 47 cm. Deep. Each Drawer is Independently Lockable. The Main Storage Chest Holds Approximately 200 Pieces and a Number of Smaller Modern Storage Chest are Included to Hold the Over Flow Pieces.
