Hallmarked in London in 1783 by Barrage Davenport, this delightful, George III, antique, sterling silver sugar basket, has a half fluted body with bead borders, a blue glass liner and a beaded swing handle. Featuring pretty pierced floral motifs surrounded with swag and swirl engraving, and an original crest in the cartouche the sugar basket measures 5.25"(13cm) tall, by 4"(10cm) in diameter and has a silver weight of 7.3 troy ounces.

A very good large silver swing handle basket of pierced oval form. The arched swing handle with two cast female busts arising from a leaf capped double C-scroll support. The cast and applied rim of shaped foliate and floral entwined decoration. The central bowl of the basket engraved with a rocaille cartouche containing an armorial. The top of the handle is decorated with a leaf form cartouche within which is the crest of a deer. The sides of the raised basket with hand cut pierced decoration.
