About the Item

A pair of George III silver rounded rectangular sauce tureens and covers by John Robins, London, 1802. The pair of tureens are set with acorn finials to the shallow domed covers, having twin ram's mask ring handles, and are both engraved with a crest and a shield, each sitting on four ball feet. Assay: .925 (Sterling Silver). Period: 1802. Engraving: The GORE family Family crest / coat of arms. Maker: John Robins. Measurement: The tureens measure approximately 12.2cm (height measured to finial) x 17.8cm (length) x 10.2cm (depth). Weight: 717 grams + 716 grams = 1433 grams (combined approximate weight). Condition: The pair of tureens are in good antique condition. They have minor surface scratches, and pitting associated with silver of this age. Minor pin-prick surface marks (dings) present, and light evidence of silversmith-made hammer marks to remove previous dings, which is a fairly standard practice for antique silverware. There are no splits, or repairs to the tureens. Overall in very nice condition. Please see photos for confirmation of condition. Item No: 1713_drw1.
