About the Item
A Beautiful Silver Mezuzah Case made by Stanetzky in Israel Circa 1950.
In the mid 19th Century many companies were making silver pieces during the modern movement, and Bezalel was at the forefront of producing many Judaic items that were popular. Companies that were making silver pieces fashioned their designs in an almost similar style to them.
Stanetzky was one of these companies and the Mezuzah case presented here is wonderfully made. Twelve emblems of the twelve tribes are intricately chased on all three sides with their names written in Hebrew above them. Separating each tribe emblem and name are bead-scrolled borders with two twisted rope designs along the length of the corners. At the top and bottom are two applied overhanging flat square plates with stylized scrolled domes above them and at the sides of the overhanging squares are four loops meant to use for hanging purposes.
A small rectangular window is pierced at the front of the case enabling us to peek at the scroll when placed within.
Signed and marked on the upper back section of the case.
