A silver mezuzah case made by Bezalel in Jerusalem circa 1920 is a significant piece of Judaica, representing a fusion of traditional Jewish motifs and early 20th-century design. The Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts played a crucial role in the development of Jewish art in the modern era, and items produced by its artists are highly prized. The Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts was Founded by Boris Schatz in Jerusalem, the school aimed to create a new Jewish art form that combined European techniques with Middle Eastern and Jewish themes. Jerusalem in the 1920s was marked by significant growth and development in the Jewish community, with an emphasis on cultural and artistic expression. The Bezalel School played a pivotal role in this cultural renaissance. Mezuzah case is fashioned in Silver repoussé at the top and bottom in a gadroon design and the center is framed with a beaded pattern. A prominent letter "Shin" in a circle band with "Jerusalem" written below it in Hebrew among diamond-shaped and swirl motifs adorn the front of the case. This Bezalel mezuzah case represents a fusion of Jewish tradition and modern art, symbolizing the cultural revival of Jewish communities in the early 20th century.
