About the Item

Tembladera or catavinos. Silver. Century XVIII. A handle is missing. Container known as catavinos or tembladera (as it does not have a foot) made of silver in its color with a flat handle curved in the shape of "that" decorated with simplified plant elements, and a line of morsels (gallion shapes) on the edge enhanced by a smooth band. Towards the interior it presents strings of pearls and dots, and a cross in the background. Bernegales and morsels were frequent pieces in Spanish silversmithing in the 17th century, usually being relegated to centers of somewhat less importance in the 18th century. Compare it with pieces such as the silver bernegal from the last third of the 17th century from the Lázaro Galdiano Museum (perhaps from the Portuguese school; inventory 3916), or the one dated between 1640 and 1665 from the same museum (inventory 3910), or that of José Jiménez de Illescas (inventory 3915, dated 1715- 1725) in the same institution. Weight: 101 grams. · Size: 12x10x4 cms International Buyers – Please Note: for those articles that need Export Permits (those older than 100 years), the obtaining of the Permit will be processed without additional expenses (if you choose the seller sends it to you), but the period for the obtention of it may vary from 10 to 35 days.
