An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver mustard pot with glass liner; an addition to our silver cruets/condiments collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver mustard pot has a cylindrical form with a plain circular spreading foot. The body of the mustard pot is embellished with pierced decorated conjoined scrolling designs, accented with four chased decorated masks anchoring pensile drop fruiting arrangements. The upper and lower rims of this mustard pot are ornamented with applied, moulded thread decorated borders. This fine Victorian silver mustard pot retains the original hallmarked hinged cover surmounted with an impressive cast silver finial and leaf decorated thumbpiece. The surface of the cover is encircled with further chased decorated fruiting arrangements on a matte background, and incorporates a scroll bordered vacant shaped cartouche to either side. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive cast opposing scrolling handle. The mustard pot is fitted with the original removable clear frosted glass liner. The cover retains the original gilding to the interior. This exceptional mustard pot is supplied with an associated sterling silver spoon, crafted in London by Chawner & Co (George William Adams), in 1876; this exceptional hand forged spoon is in keeping with the style of the mustard pot. This exceptional antique Victorian mustard pot is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique Victorian silver mustard pot with liner is a superior gauge of silver, superior quality and in superior condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and bowl of the spoon are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian cruets and condiments.
