An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare vintage George VI English sterling silver travelling communion set - boxed; an addition to our religious silverware collection. This exceptional and rare vintage George VI sterling silver communion set has a cylindrical form. The plain central cylindrical vessel is encompassed with two plain applied girdles and embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved ornamental initials 'SC' flanking a stylised cross design. This wafer box retains the original screw fit domed cover, ornamented with an applied bead decorated border and surmounted with aball style finial. This silver box/pyx secures to a circular rounded plate/paten via a screw fit receiver to the centre of the sunken well; the receiver secures to the underside with the original hallmarked screw fitments. The plateaued border of the paten is embellished with four equidistant circular floral rosettes accented with quatrefoil motifs. The interior of the pyx retains the original gilding. This vintage silver travelling communion set is fitted to the original, angular shaped hinged leatherette box with velvet and satin interior, securing with a suitcase buckle box lock. The cover of the box features the original brass plaque ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Right Rev J. F. Halsall, Bishop of Zabi'*. This exceptional, rare travelling communion set is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. * Right Rev. Joseph F. Halsall, Bishop of Zabi was consecrated 21st September, 1945. Condition This vintage travelling communion set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The engraved decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the paten and part hallmarks to the underside of the box and each screw fitment are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this unusual communion set in silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver communion set; an addition to our diverse religious silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian cast sterling silver communion set consists of a chalice, paten and wine phial/flask. The chalice has a circular baluster form onto a knopped pedestal and spreading foot. The surface of the antique chalice is ornamented with impressive embossed quatrefoil cartouches bearing contemporary engraved initials 'IHS'*. The surface of the drinking vessel is further embellished with impressive flat engraved decoration, emanating from the protruding cartouches, in addition to encircling the upper rim below a plain moulded border. The knops to the panelled pedestal are encompassed with bead decoration. The circular foot of this exceptional chalice is encircled with flat engraved arched geometric designs. The paten has a circular-shaped form to a plain circular foot. The raised border of the paten is embellished with impressive flat engraved decoration, reflecting that of the upper portion of the chalice. An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage George VI English sterling silver Art Deco style three piece condiment set - boxed; an addition to our vintage silverware collection. This exceptional vintage George VI sterling silver three-piece condiment set consists of a salt, a pepper pot and a mustard pot. The pieces of this fine silver condiment set have a plain cylindrical tapering form onto a circular foot. The surface of each piece is embellished with concentric bands of tooled decoration, all in the iconic Art Deco style. The mustard pot is fitted with an angular handle with a plain upper plateau. The mustard pot retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover, ornamented with tiered concentric circular decoration and surmounted with an Art Deco style tapering cylindrical finial. The pepper pot is fitted with a push fit cover with pierced 'pepper' holes. The salt and mustard pot are fitted with removable blue glass liners. This vintage silver condiment set is supplied with associate salt and mustard spoons. These fine examples of vintage silverware are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with two hinged catches. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'By Appointment, Mappin & Webb Ltd, Sheffield & London' and each component of the condiment set bears the retailer's mark 'Mappin & Webb Ltd, Sheffield & London'. The exceptional condiment set will have been crafted in the same year, but due to the hallmarking system the mustard pot is struck with the date letter 'D', whereas the pepper and salt bear the date letter 'E'.
