Superb Edwardian Heavy Gauge Silver Swing Handle Fruit Basket or Centerpiece of unusually large proportions and generous weight. The waisted form upper flaired body with lavish open fret work decoration, a central ring turned plain socle, ending on a circular spreading base with similar decoration. The swing handle with similar decoration, secured at each end with a shell motif. Mark of M & W within a shield surround for Mappin & Webb Silversmiths. London Assay Halmark for 1913. Condition: Good allover condition, with no losses to decoration. There are three crisp clear Hallmarks visible, a real sign of quality. Height: 8.75” (22.5cm). Height: (excluding handle) 4.25” (11cm). Diameter: (top rim) 4.25” (11cm). Weight: (an impressive) 21 ozs. (595 grams). Location: Dublin City, Ireland.
