An English heavy solid silver toast rack of larger proportions 1924 - 1925

About the Item

This fine English solid silver toast rack is elegant and of good practical proportions with a strong substantial construction. It stands on four ball feet which support the lower frame from which there are seven upright shaped divisions. The central one has a raised loop handle and the others form the individual sections for up to six slices of toast. This fine example is hallmarked Birmingham 1924 – 5 and bears the well known makers mark for Alexander Clarke and Co. The rack has a good weight of 176 grams. Height 12cm x width 13cm x depth 9cm Alexander Clark & Co. was a silversmiths and silverware manufacturer making a range of silverplated cutlery, jewellery and reproduction historical silver pieces as well as fitted dressing cases and high quality leather goods. Formed in 1890 in London, the firm began producing sterling silver flatware and silverplate.
