An antique silver vesta case of extra small proportions by William Hair Haseler

About the Item

This fine silver vesta case is of an unusual rare small size. It measures Height 3.7cm x width 2.7cm x depth 1cm. It is a high quality very solidly made example. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1920/21 by the famous silversmith William Hair Haseler. It is restrained in its decoration with bands of vertical lines which are in groups of three with a spaced single line between them. On the front face, there is a circular panel designed to customise the vesta with the owner’s engraved initials. In this case, left plain. The lid opens on a firm spring loaded hinge to gain access to the space where matches would be stored. On the underside, there is a serrated section for striking. A very pleasing Vesta case in good original condition Height 3.7cm x depth 2.7cm x depth 1cm
