A Very Fine Set of Six Silver Gilt Agate Handled Knives Made in London in 1847 by George Adams The Knives have palely gilded bladed and beautifully shaded red agate handles. These could be used when eating fruit, cheese or bread and make quite a statement on the table. They are in exceptional condition and each blade is very well marked. George Adams was a prolifice silversmith, who made some of the finest flatware during this period. Additional information: Length: 8.5 inches, 21.25 cm

The teaspoons are of a most unusual design and are modeled in the Hanoverian style. The shaped stems display a raised bearded male mask surrounded by Rococo shell and scroll details. The reverse of the stem displays foliate designs and a vacant Rococo scroll cartouche. The reverse of the bowl displays a raised shell and scroll back and the stems are marked with the maker's mark and sterling mark. The spoons are in quite excellent condition.
