American Painted Tramp Art Shaving Mirror and Base, Circa 1920 The American Tramp Art Shaving Mirror and base is painted in muted greens, yellow and red. The top and bottom with diamond-shaped appliques in a tiered form with a green base and yellow top, Atop the mirror are two facing shaped designs similarly colored but with the addition of red in the center. The lower section is hinged. Dimensions: 14 3/4 inches high x 10 1/2 inches wide x 8 1/4 inches deep. Tramp Art Definition & History In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, people made art from scrap wood, and some of these works came to be known as tramp art. Tramp art is the name given to objects made with small pieces of wood taken from everyday sources like wooden cigar boxes and shipping crates. (Ref: NY10767-kimx)
